Traffic Alert: Police shut M6 to allow air ambulance to land after serious accident

The motorway has been re-opened southbound between Junctions 3 (Coventry) and 2 (Ansty Park) following the earlier accident.

However, there are still long delays reported on the approaches to Junction 3. Highways England has said these will start to ease from now but has warned that normal conditions may not return until after 5pm.

Traffic has been stopped on the M6 southbound between Junctions 3 (Coventry) and 2 (Ansty Park) following a serious accident.

Police have stopped the traffic to allow the air ambulance helicopter to land so it can airlift the injured to hospital.

Two lanes had been closed and Highways England was warning of long delays in the area.

The incident is not expected to clear until after 11am and drivers have been advised to avoid the area if they can.
