Thieves target Michelin-starred restaurant causing thousands of pounds damage

A Michelin-starred restaurant in Birmingham has been targeted by thieves who stripped lead from the roof of the building causing extensive damage to the property.

The thieves struck at Simpsons in Edgbaston on Monday when the restaurant is closed and the damage has been estimated at tens of thousands of pounds.

The restaurant said on its Twitter feed: “People of Birmingham any info on this would be appreciated. Thieves have stolen the lead off our roof, not cool.”

The thieves stripped lead from a pavilion in the restaurant’s garden as well as the roof of a conservatory attached to the main building.

The restaurant said that sadly this was not the first time it had been targeted. It has urged anyone with information to contact the police.
