Book now for Sporting Lunch with the Villa legends

Two of Aston Villa’s footballing legends will be reliving the club’s finest hour – its win in the 1982 European Cup Final – at a special sporting lunch organised by TheBusinessDesk.com on Friday, October 6.

Gordon ‘Sid’ Cowans, one of the club’s all-time greats, and title-winning teammate Tony Morley, whose cross created Peter Withe’s match-winning goal against Bayern Munich, will join an audience of business people for an informal afternoon of reminiscing and relationship-building.

England international Cowans, named his favourite player by Jack Reacher author and life-long Villa fan, Lee Child, played more than 400 times for Villa in a 22-year playing career that also included three seasons in Italy with Bari, before moving into coaching, where he spent a further two decades helping to nurture the next generation of heroes at Villa Park.

Morley, who scored the goal of the season against Everton in the Lions’ memorable 1980/1981 title-winning campaign, earned six England caps during a career that also saw him play twice for West Bromwich Albion and a loan spell at Birmingham City.

The duo will share anecdotes from their career at the very top of European football, as well as reflections on different managerial styles and dealing with pressure. Both are experienced coaches and will also look at the skills required to get the best out of young talent.

The event at Siamais, Brindleyplace, is £35 + VAT and includes a two-course lunch and welcome drink.
