Marina plans for growth after securing new funding deal

Hill Farm Marina

Construction has started on a new marina project in Warwickshire after the firm behind the scheme secured a new funding deal.

The new Hill Farm Marina, Henley-in-Arden, is being constructed on the edge of Hill Farm, next to the Stratford-upon-Avon canal on the Avon Ring. It will provide mooring spaces for up to 50 canal boats.

The project, which has secured £750,000 from HSBC, will also see the creation of new footpaths along the canal, road access to the marina from the A3400 and a 25-bay car park.

Hill Farm Marina is a separate venture to Hill Farm and will be overseen by David Amor, director of Hill Farm, and business partner David Cooke. The marina is marked for completion later this autumn.

Mr Amor said: “The loan and support that we received from HSBC has been essential in ensuring we could manage the costs of the construction phase of Hill Farm Marina. We’re now well underway and are looking forward to opening.”

Once the marina is complete, Hill Farm plans to add other facilities and services, including a shower block and café. It will be turning to the back again for fresh funds.

When complete, the marina will offer new and improved tourist facilities which are expected to boost the local economies of Henley-in-Arden and Stratford upon Avon.

Dave Welch, Area Director for HSBC, said: “Hill Farm came to us earlier this year looking for competitive and flexible funding that would enable them to develop the marina and cope with the changeable nature of a construction project. The team has a strong vision for the future of the marina and we’re pleased to continue to support projects like Hill Farm Marina which also have a positive impact on the local economy.”
