Food delivery business feeds growth ambitions with new lease deal

Food delivery business Deliveroo has agreed a ten-year lease on a Birmingham warehouse to support its growth plans for the city.

The business, which collects food from a host of partner restaurants and delivers it to people’s front doors, has taken on a 6,092 sq ft industrial unit (pictured) on Upper Gough Street, close to The Mailbox.

The letting was overseen by Harris Lamb.

Tom Morley, of Harris Lamb, said: “Deliveroo’s business model has grown significantly and it no longer simply acts as a conduit between restaurant and diner. Rather, it is now preparing food onsite.

“The intention is to refit the unit with a number of kitchens so that chefs are able to base themselves there to extend Deliveroo’s regional commercial and corporate offering.

“This unit’s location in the heart of the city centre and its close proximity to main arterial routes made it the perfect site for the operation.”

The lease has a five-year break term.
