Care group targets expansion after acquisition

A West Midlands-based care services provider has announced plans to grow its business after undergoing an acquisition.

PCB Care, which has offices in Birmingham, Coventry and London, intends to develop a commercial training service for the care industry.

The 30-year-old company, which provides specialist social care, child care, social work and home care provision, was acquired by West Midlands-based N-Trust Care Services, a specialist care industry recruiter and training provider, last year.

The deal created a business with a workforce of 40, which is aiming to more than double its £6m turnover and increase its presence in the UK market.

N-Trust, which operates out of Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham, is led by managing director John Coyne and majority shareholders Gary Dewhurst and Mark Roberts. As a result of the acquisition, it has rebranded its operations under the PCB Care banner to extend the reach of the established brand.

This strategy will be further bolstered by an ongoing acquisition programme, which looks to identify complementary businesses in the UK care sector to further scale-up operations and market share.

Immediate growth at PCB Care has come through its InTouch home care operation, which has expanded into new offices in Coventry. InTouch, which provides care in the home, specialising in the Live In and Condition-Led fields, has doubled the size of its previous offices in Coventry with a move to Sutherland House in Matlock Road.

In addition to providing large office space for its staff, the new building has enabled the firm to create a dedicated training suite and enhanced visitor facilities including an on-site coffee shop where carers can bring service users together for social events.

Since its acquisition, PCB Care has brought training for its carers and support staff in-house and uses classroom-based learning delivered by accredited trainers. PCB Care is now planning to expand the service by commercialising its training offer for other companies in the sector.

Mr Coyne said: “Last year’s acquisition has provided a real springboard for growth for the company. In addition to adopting N-Trust’s operations under the PCB Care name to immediately strengthen our offering, we are actively pursuing a strategy to increase the size of the business and market penetration.

“Both PCB Care and the InTouch Home Care service present strong growth potential, which will be supported by our ambitions to commercialise our training operations.

“Our new larger offices in Coventry, with its dedicated training facility, further demonstrates our ambitions to scale-up the business.”
