Chubb locks in to office relocation

Colmore Building

Chubb, the world’s biggest publicly traded property and casualty insurance business, is moving into the Colmore Building in Birmingham.

It will relocate from nearby Edmund Street after agreeing a deal for 6,188 sq ft.

The Colmore Building is now 85% let after it underwent a£3.5m enhancement programme. Its 310,000 sq ft of Grade A office space benefits from a gym, treatment rooms, a bicycle park, changing rooms and a cafe.

The deal to move Chubb into the Colmore was managed by
AshbyCapital. Its head of asset management, Tony Smithers, said: “To have another one of Birmingham’s global companies move into the Colmore Building speaks volumes about the world-class quality of both the workspace itself, and the range of amenities on offer. This is an exciting period of growth for Birmingham.”

Chubb joins a number of blue chip companies, including Vodafone, Allianz, Grant Thornton, Hogan Lovells and Rathbones, in the Colmore Building.

Andy Riach of JLL, leasing agent for the Colmore, added: “The flight to quality for all occupiers is gathering momentum as businesses prioritise staff well being above all other factors. The Colmore Building has raised the bar with its amenity offer and customer-orientated approach, and there are more exciting developments for the building in the pipeline.”
