Shared workspace provider agrees largest office deal of the year

Six Brindleyplace

WeWork’s rapid expansion in Birmingham has accelerated with its third deal in a month after it agreed to take over Six Brindleyplace.

The serviced office provider has taken all seven storeys of the 97,000 sq ft office building in Birmingham city centre in what is believed to be the largest office letting in the city so far this year.

In the last month WeWork has revealed significant deals at 55 Colmore Row and Louisa Ryland House in the Colmore Business District and it will have more 200,000 sq ft of space in the city when the three sites are open.

Mary Finnigan, head of transactions at WeWork said: “We recognised the demand to expand in Birmingham, and our hope is that our community across the UK and Ireland – which is now 50,000 members strong – will benefit from having access to our spaces in Birmingham.”

WeWork plans to launch its offer at Six Brindleyplace in the first quarter of 2020. The building, which overlooks the Central Square, has Eat and Maribel restaurant on the ground floor.

Raj Rajput, head of asset management for Hines, said: “Flexible working is a trend which has dominated city centre office markets across the UK in recent years and there is clearly healthy demand in Birmingham for collaborative flexi space which WeWork is synonymous with.

“Welcoming yet another blue chip organisation to Brindleyplace underlines its position as a leading business destination in the city.”

Avison Young and Savills acted on behalf of asset managers Hines, while JLL acted on behalf of WeWork in the deal.
