Healthy options for RLB

PROPERTY and construction practice Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) has chosen Birmingham as the firm’s UK healthcare hub.

Former Circle Health man Steven Jenkins has been brought in to lead its offering in this sector at home and abroad.

He has more than 20 years’ experience of dealing with property, asset management and the delivery of major property transformation projects and programmes within the public sector.

RLB has also confirmed its appointment to three projects on behalf of Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow.

The firm is the technical advisor to the £12m New Theatres Project, currently under construction and includes four new theatres and refurbishment of the existing theatre block. It has also been selected as project manager and engineering design lead for the refurbishment of the infectious diseases and haematology units.

In a third role, Rider Levett Bucknall has been appointed to lead the design team to prepare a development control plan for the hospital site and the new £21m accident and emergency and urgent care centre.

Jenkins said:  “The Government has recently awarded the North West London Hospitals NHS Trust £21m to improve emergency services for patients in Brent, Harrow and the surrounding area. The Trust has recognised the input that Rider Levett Bucknall can provide to ensure the success of such a major programme and we are delighted with the appointment.”

Jenkins is also currently advising the Isle of Wight NHS Trust on its Strategic Estate Options Strategy which aims at reducing the size of the estate whilst also improving patient experience and access to services.
