New MD for metalweb

BIRMINGHAM engineering firm metalweb has appointed a new managing director.

The aluminium specialist has appointed Bruce Maggs in succession to Derek Webb, who is stepping into the role of director.

Maggs joins metalweb from Thyssenkrupp Aerospace, where he held the role of Vice President Europe for five years. He has worked within the metal industry for over 30 years and brings with him a wealth of experience.

Webb said: “When I decided to step across to the role of director, Bruce was my first point of call. Since arriving at metalweb, Bruce has met some of our key suppliers and has already made some positive steps towards looking at metalweb’s operational efficiency.”

Maggs added: “I am looking forward to a new challenge at metalweb and can already see several opportunities to progress the business. There are significant challenges in the current market and I believe it is essential to provide our customers with a broad offer, and ensure we deliver that in a creative way.

“We plan to build on our core values and relationships and continue to deliver a first class performance to our customers.”

Cooper Solutions recruits to support growth

Liz Cooper and Stephen Murray of Cooper SolutionsWARWICKSHIRE automotive software supplier Cooper Solutions has made two new appointments to support growth.

The Barford firm has appointed Liz Cooper as operations support executive and Stephen Murray as applications support specialist.

Ms Cooper will combine her work at the firm with her studies at Birmingham College of Law where she hopes to secure a law degree.

She will be responsible for assisting with the operation of the company’s web-based trade vehicle auction site FullAuction.

Murray has worked in the motor trade since starting his career at various car dealerships. He will be responsible for testing and maintaining the company’s web-based software, which it supplies to more than 1,200 dealerships across the UK.

Barry Cooper, managing director of Cooper Solutions, said: “We are delighted to be able to continue to expand our workforce with these latest appointments.”

The firm now employs more than 20 people.

Brockway Carpets rolls out new man

Bruce Calverley, Bespoke Carpet Manager, Brockway CarpetsKIDDERMINSTER’S Brockway Carpets has appointed Bruce Calverley as its Bespoke Carpet Manager, as part of major development plans to extend its tailored service offering to domestic and commercial markets.

Calverley will be responsible for spearheading an exclusive bespoke product range of luxury carpets, being developed to support the company’s expansion into the high-end, domestic and contract flooring market sectors.

“Brockway’s new bespoke portfolio is a ground-breaking expansion for both the company and industry alike,” he said.

“We expect to unveil the first range early in 2013 and I’m delighted to be joining the team at what is such an exciting and important time in Brockway’s future.”
