Builder Keepmoat invests in new Midland-based training centre

BUILDING and regeneration specialist Keepmoat has created its first national centre of excellence in the West Midlands.

The cutting-edge facility, based in Coleshill, has been inspired by the Football Association’s new National Football Centre in Burton. It is Keepmoat’s first dedicated nationwide training facility for its near 3,000-strong workforce.

Headed by Lee Cattermole, a trainer with 20 years’ experience, the centre is expected to be attended by the company’s entire workforce at some stage during the next year.

It will be used to train everyone from senior managers to on-site staff with a commitment that all Keepmoat workers will receive at least one day of training a year.

Boasting a spacious training room, a cutting-edge information technology suite and special breakout zones, the centre will offer more than 50 courses covering everything from leadership development to health and safety.

Dave Sheridan, Keepmoat chief executive, said the centre marked the company’s largest ever investment in its workforce and was a statement of the firm’s commitment to its staff.

“The Keepmoat Centre of Excellence will be used to train and develop the next generation of talent at Keepmoat, as the business grows so will our workforce. At the centre we will share our passion and expertise for construction. Every single Keepmoat employee will see the benefits of the centre and the pioneering courses offered there, ensuring Keepmoat staff stay at the forefront of our sector,” he said.

The centre of excellence will become a hub for the company’s training sessions, run by 20 dedicated staff, who are based at Keepmoat’s Midlands office.

Lee Cattermole, group training manager, said: “Having trained thousands of people over the last two decades in a variety of different industries, this is one of the most serious investments I have seen in training and development.

“Creating a national centre for excellence is an important marker in the sand as it shows Keepmoat is passionate about investing in the future of its workforce.”

Keepmoat was formed in March 2012 following the merger of Apollo and the Keepmoat Group of companies (Bramall Construction, Keepmoat Homes, Keepmoat Ltd, Frank Haslam Milan and Milnerbuild).

The merger created a £1bn market leading company with national reach – specialising in community regeneration and housing solutions. Keepmoat has 22 regional offices and employs around 2,900 people across the UK.
