Jaguar celebrates booming summer sales

THE REVIVAL of West Midlands car maker Jaguar Land Rover has continued, with the manufacturer celebrating its best August sales of Jaguars for two years.

Jaguar sales in the UK are up 45% year-to-date and 74% versus August 2009.

Geoff Cousins, Jaguar UK’s managing director, said: “While August is traditionally a quieter month for car sales in the UK, we have had our busiest August for two years.

“We are certainly seeing strong evidence of consumer confidence bouncing back. Every one of the 20 £85,500 XKR 75 models available in the UK has been ordered. Our dealers sold out in just three weeks following the global debut of this model at the Goodwood Festival if Speed in July.

“The XF continues to go from strength to strength with a sales increase of 45% year to date and its 15th consecutive month-on-month improvement. So far this year the XF is outselling all models of the Audi A6 and BMW 5-series.”
 
In the UK, 209 XF were sold in August 2010 compared to 126 the previous year, up 66% while year to date, 7933 XF have been sold in the UK up 45% from 5,456 sales in 2009.

Sales of the XK are also up so far this year with 1,116 cars sold compared with 880, a year-to-date improvement of 27%.

Overall, Jaguar has sold 9,952 cars in the UK, a 45% improvement on the previous year. 6,883 cars were sold in the January-August period in 2009.
