Construction challenges to be aired at new conference

CHALLENGES facing the construction sector in Herefordshire and Worcestershire will be aired at a business expo being organised by the area’s chamber of commerce.

The construction conference takes place at the business expo at the Perry Suite of the Three Counties Showground, Malvern on Thursday September 18. The event has attracted a wide range of experienced industry speakers.

The event, held in collaboration with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Construction Excellence, is now in its second year. It aims to provide firms involved in the industry with the opportunity to raise their profile within the sector and gain better access to new suppliers, contacts and customers.

The keynote speaker this year is Don Ward, Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence, which is a cross-sector, cross-supply chain, member-led organisation operating for the good of the industry and its stakeholders.

He said: “Forward-looking businesses need to understand trends in the economy and the construction market, and how these might affect their prospects, good and bad. The event is a great opportunity to pick up ideas, think strategically about the business and how you can make money, and to network with potential customers.”

Other speakers include Gary Woodman, from the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Tony Johnson, from Herefordshire County Council, as well as Stuart Speight, from IE Developments and Jonathan Hines, Chief Executive of Architype Architects, local sector leaders in the Passivhaus movement.

Helen Mole, Head of Events at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, said: “The Construction Conference is the place to be for everyone involved in the sector. It is a great opportunity to hear from experienced industry figures and find new business contacts, and yet another reason why local businesspeople should attend the Chamber’s Business Expo, which is the biggest business event in the region.”
