GKN announces aerospace chief executive to stand down

MIDLANDS engineering group GKN has announced that the chief executive of its Aerospace and Land Systems divisions is to step down from the business.

Marcus Bryson, who joined the Redditch group from Westland in 1994, will leave his position on December 31, 2014, at which time he will also step down from the board of directors.

Bryson held a number of senior financial and commercial roles within GKN Aerospace before being appointed to the board as Chief Executive Aerospace in June 2007. He subsequently assumed the additional responsibility for GKN Land Systems in October 2011.

Bryson will continue to work for the company on a part-time basis until December 31, 2015 to provide advice and support in relation to industry developments, UK government relations and strategic matters. He will hold the title President GKN Aerospace.

Kevin Cummings, CEO GKN Aerospace, and Phil Swash, CEO GKN Land Systems, will join the GKN executive committee and will report directly to GKN’s group chief executive Nigel Stein.

GKN Chairman, Mike Turner, said “Marcus has made a huge contribution to GKN, being instrumental in the creation of GKN’s leading aerospace business. During his seven years on the GKN board we have benefited greatly from Marcus’ extensive experience. He leaves GKN with the group and the Aerospace division well-positioned for the future. I am very grateful for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
