RICS begins search for West Midlands’ top property projects

A FIVE month search to find the most innovative property and construction schemes in the West Midlands is now on, following the launch of the 2015 RICS West Midlands Awards.

The property body’s award annual awards celebrate the region’s most inspirational built initiatives and developments.

The launch event was held at the Library of Birmingham after the project won the Design through Innovation award as well as the ‘Project of the Year’ title at this year’s RICS West Midlands Awards.

Chairman of the RICS West Midlands Awards judging panel, Richard Moxon said: “The RICS Awards are a unique opportunity to celebrate the best in what the West Midlands has to offer in land, property, construction and environmental projects.

“The West Midlands has proven in previous years of the awards that it is host to some remarkable ingenuity within the industry and I’m eager to see what the entries hold this year.”

The eight categories to enter are: Regeneration, Community Benefit, Building Conservation, Design through Innovation, Commercial, Residential, Infrastructure, and Tourism & Leisure. The Project of the Year is the entry judged to have scored the highest across all categories.

Furthermore, the winners in the Building Conservation, Design through Innovation, Community Benefit and Regeneration categories will go on to compete against other regional winners in the national RICS Awards for the chance to be crowned the overall winner in their respective categories.

The 2014 winning schemes that will represent the West Midlands in the national RICS Awards on October 17 at the Strand in London are: Bank Farm & Threshing Barn, Carden (Building Conservation), The Library of Birmingham (Design & Innovation), Cobridge Community Health Centre, Stoke-on-Trent (Community Benefit) and Jaguar Land Rover, Wolverhampton (Regeneration).

The RICS West Midlands Awards 2015 will be presented at a ceremony on May 21st at the Town Hall, Birmingham.
