Hadley Group unveils the alternative 10 Downing Street

SMETHWICK manufacturer Hadley Group has taken full advantage of the Conservative Party conference being staged in Birmingham to unveil its new production facility – coincidentally located at 10 Downing Street.

The firm, the UK’s largest independent cold rolled steel manufacturer, has taken full occupancy of its rollforming division’s production facility.

Playing on its 10 Downing Street address – albeit with a at B66 2PA postcode – Hadley has erected a life size facia on the front of its building, which will stay in place until the end of the election period.

Hadley Group CEO, Stewart Towe said: “It may be a tongue-in-cheek association, but Downing Street in Smethwick has been home to all of Hadley Group’s important decision-making since the business was established 50 years ago.

“Today it’s our global headquarters and four of our international manufacturing centres are based here in Sandwell.

“The decision to expand into the full production space available at our very own ‘Number 10’ was a highly strategic and necessary one, enabling us to manage the significant growth being enjoyed across the business.

“The entire bay has been redesigned to be able to accommodate cranes and operate as a full scale production facility.

“Maximising the space available to us was an essential step, enabling us to support expansion experienced in particular within our custom rollforming services and to streamline our operations.”
