Drilling company boss to speak at Ladies First breakfast event

JULIE White, managing director of Coventry-based D-Drill, will be the guest speaker at the next event to be staged by networking group Ladies First.

White, one of the few female bosses in the construction sector, became MD of her family business following a management buy-out of the company from her father in 2008.

D-Drill has now been trading for 45 years and has the UK’s largest branch network in its sector, It specialises in diamond drilling, sawing and controlled demolition technology.

White is the first woman to be appointed to a professional body for the industry, having joined the board of directors for The Drilling and Sawing Association and stands as UK representative at the world association.

She has recently been elected as the vice-president of the organisation – the first woman ever to take up that post.

In 2011 White was chosen as the Vitalise Businesswoman of the Year – following in the footsteps of the likes of Karren Brady and Hilary Devey.

In her talk to members of Ladies First – at Nailcote Hall, Berkswell on November 19 – she will be sharing the highs and lows of her business career.

Julie Richardson, director of Ladies First said: “We are delighted to have attracted someone of Julie’s stature to share with us, her business journey and I’m sure her story is going to be both inspirational and, from what I hear, amusing to our members.”
