Ex-Synectics chief is new Sprue NED

COVENTRY-based Sprue Aegis, one of Europe’s leading home safety products suppliers, has announced the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director.

John Shepherd, former chief executive of Warwickshire security and surveillance group Synectics, takes up the post with immediate effect.  

Shepherd began his career at British Aerospace where he held various systems and software engineering management positions. In 1990, he joined Smiths Industries where, as Managing Director of the Smiths Detection division, he was responsible for building a world leading transport, security and military detection systems business. Subsequently, he was appointed as chief executive of First Technology Group where he built up a substantial gas sensor and detection systems business prior to the company being acquired by Honeywell.  

Since 2008 until his retirement earlier this year, he served as chief executive of Studley-based Synectics.

Commenting on the appointment, Graham Whitworth, executive chairman of Sprue said:  “John has an impressive track record of building technology businesses of scale.  Those successes reflect skills that will be particularly valuable to Sprue in the next phase of its development and the board looks forward to working with John to help leverage the group’s technology and market leading positions.”
 

New board appointments for Goodwin

STOKE-ON-TRENT engineering group Goodwin has announced a series of new board appointments.

Jennifer Kelly has been appointed a Non Executive Director of the company and chairman of the Audit Committee.

Additionally, Timothy J.W. Goodwin has been appointed an executive director of the business.

Business landmarks for HomeServe’s US arm

WALSALL-based home emergency and maintenance group, HomeServe has announced a series of business milestones.

In a brief update to the market, the company said its US subsidiary, HomeServe USA had exceeded two million customers and three million policy agreements.

The company will announce its preliminary results on May 19, 2015.
