Sign up for Getting To Grips With The New Government – our post-election event

THE General Election is done and dusted and the result was ‘cleaner’ than many observers predicted, but there’s plenty still to discuss.

For the West Midlands business community there is a need to understand what a Conservative majority government means across a broad range of issues – everything from business rates to devolution by way of infrastructure spending and the future of the public sector.

At our post-election panel-led discussion on Tuesday June 2 we aim to look at the new Government’s priorities and what we can expect as a region and as individual businesses.

The Government has already said that it will including a devolution bill in the forthcoming Queen’s Speech. But what will that look like and what will it mean for the West Midlands?

And can we expect investment to help our manufacturing businesses in areas such as apprenticeships/skills trading and trading overseas?

Also, what of its plans to hold an in/out referendum on EU membership? Can Midlands business take any positives from this?

Confirmed panelists for the event – chaired by TheBusinessDesk.com editor Andy Coyne – are Ninder Johal, president of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Black Country Local Enterprise partnership, Eric Williams, a partner at accountancy and advisory firm Mazars and Adam Kendall, a partner at law firm Bevan Brittan.

More high-profile panelists will be announced in due course.

The event takes place at the headquarters of property consultancy CBRE at 55 Temple Row in central Birmingham at 4pm for a 4.30pm start.

If you would like to be in the audience – and have a chance to put your point across or ask a question on the issues mentioned or another – email gurmukh.bhurjee@thebusinessdesk.com

Numbers are limited so places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sponsors of the event are Mazars and Bevan Brittan.
