Nasmyth pledges multi-million investment to key businesses

COVENTRY-based engineering group, Nasmyth is to improve one of its key businesses with a multi-million pound investment.

The group, a leading global supplier of precision engineering, products and services, has pledged the investment to its surface treatment businesses.

Between them, GEB Surface Treatments Ltd, MPS Ltd, West Middlesex Surface Treatments Ltd and Towerfield Plating Ltd, all based in the UK, and Nasmyth TMF Inc, based in California, provide an extensive range of advanced, aerospace industry and Nadcap-approved services.

An expansion project at GEB Surface Treatments that will double the size of its buildings and facilities is nearly complete and at West Middlesex work is about to start on a development project which is scheduled for completion in December. A significant investment has also been made in the Towerfield Plating site to enhance its process offering.

In California, the recently integrated Nasmyth TMF has already expanded into newly acquired premises providing three times the previous space and has introduced a number of new processes and production lines. A further investment has been made in automated hard anodising controllers and rectifiers that enable a level of accuracy over anodising thicknesses that gives Nasmyth TMF a lead over the competition.

Peter Smith, chairman and CEO of Nasmyth Group, said: “Surface treatment represents a key area of growth for Nasmyth Group as a result of increasing demand for our range of specialist services. The investments we are making will increase our global surface finishing production floor space by over 50% and help to ensure that we continue to maintain our competitive edge by delivering the very best solutions for our customers.”
