Wragges man recruited by EY to head up new tech venture

ACCOUNTANCY and advisory firm EY has swooped on Birmingham-based law firm Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co for tech specialist Richard Goold.

He will join EY as a partner to lead and grow a legal tech team and support the firm’s wider tech and fin-tech practice.

At Wragges he was co-chair of tech and was previously head of the firm’s US sales team.

He has been working in the tech and fin-tech markets for over ten years and has extensive experience of advising companies and investors across Europe and the US.

Goold is expected to join EY in the spring.

Philip Goodstone, head of EY’s UKI legal services team, said: “Richard is a fantastic appointment and will be a real asset to the team.

“Our ambition has always been to grow our UK legal services practice around some of the key sectors where EY already has a wealth of experience. Richard’s appointment marks a key step towards achieving this strategy. He is a rising star in the tech sector and is well known in the fin-tech market.”

Imran Gulamhuseinwala, EY’s fin-tech leader, added: “The pace of change and innovation in the fin-tech industry over the last five years has been astounding.

“It has become a growing industry for the UK economy.

“Investing in our own business through top talent like Richard will ensure that we are well positioned to help companies as they seek to capitalise on this opportunity.”
