Public sector promotion at Grant Thornton

GRANT Thornton is building on its public sector expertise with the promotion of Birmingham-based sector specialist Mark Stocks to partner.
 
Mr Stocks joined Grant Thornton in 2012 from the Audit Commission and has over 25 years’ experience working with public sector bodies, specialising in health and local government. He is head of the firm’s 70-strong public sector assurance practice in the Midlands and leads Grant Thornton’s health group nationally.
 
His healthcare expertise includes strategy development, performance management, governance and risk management, working with foundation trusts such as Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, NHS trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups across the Midlands.

In local government he works alongside authorities including Solihull MBC, Wolverhampton City Council and Shropshire Council. He has also contributed to several national Grant Thornton reports on topical issues such as devolution, alternative delivery models and the firm’s recent Business Location Index and Health and Wellbeing Index.
 

Insurance firm brokers expansion

The new recruits – three account executives – are; Leon Fung, Charles Taylor and Mike Hemp. They have respectively joined from Bollingtons, Thomas Carolls and Towergate.

Alongside these appointments Colmore has also taken on Georgia Porter, their first apprentice, who joins the commercial team.

Commenting on the appointments, Andy Smallwood, director at Colmore said: “It is great to have the trio on board joining the existing team and for them to choose Colmore as their next career move underlines the strength of the business and our exciting vision for broking.”

LGBT award for Mazars chief

The ‘Making A Difference In Business’ list celebrates the professionals who are making positive contributions in the workplace, and rather than a reflection of seniority, seeks to identify individuals who have influenced change at their companies and beyond.
 
The 2016 Top 50 LGBT Executives were announced in the Telegraph and at a dinner hosted by the European Diversity Awards.
 
Lee Cartwright has been with the firm for 20 years, and is the partner sponsor of the Mazars LGBT Champions diversity network.
 
One of the first internal diversity networks established at Mazars, LGBT Champions aims to support both staff and the broader LGBT community, and is a reflection of the firms growing and diverse workforce.
 
He said: “I am truly honoured to have been nominated for this by a client, and to have made the Top 50 list.
 
“I am proud to spearhead the LGBT Champions diversity network at Mazars, which is going from strength to strength.”
