7 signs your boss secretly hates you

It is thought that around half of UK workers are considering quitting their jobs at any given time and one of the main reasons is the unhappy relationship with their boss.

Whilst it’s not uncommon to dislike your manager – especially when they are critical and patronising – there are very few bosses that will openly discuss their real feelings towards you.

If you’re familiar with these seven signs get out fast before you waste your career under biased management.
1. Your opinion is irrelevant

If your boss doesn’t like you, you won’t get a say in any decisions – even the ones that will directly affect you. As a general rule, they’ll avoid talking to you altogether unless they want to criticise you.

2. They never praise you

It might just be their way of keeping your ego within the confines of the office, or their lack of praise could be a sign they don’t actually like you.

3. Any excuse to prove you wrong

It seems that whenever you’re not speaking to them, they’re listening and will pick up on anything you say wrong. They won’t let you get away with it either, they’ll give you a lecture on why and how you are wrong just to make you feel that little bit smaller. After all, undermining you is the best way to show how they really feel about you, without appearing unprofessional.

4. You’re the only one they micromanage

Being micromanaged is just how some managers work, but if it’s only you being checked up on, it could be a sign. Clearly they don’t trust you to do your job and like to intimidate you by piling on the pressure.

5. They favour your colleagues

Your boss will avoid giving you any real responsibilities and will have the big decisions made by other workers, even if they directly impact on your working environment.

But its not just the fact he makes you do the tea round every hour, you watch as your colleagues receive copious amounts of praise, pats on the back and even gifts from business trips but all you get from the job is back pain, stress and a heavily taxed pay slip.

6. They don’t listen to you

It seems they are always willing to help others, but not you – never you. You could have the best ideas but if it’s going in one ear and out the other you’ll never advance in your career.

7. They’re always “busy”

Ever been shrugged off by the too busy response? Yet he has time to have a cup of tea with other managers or ask all his employees how they’re getting on. The reason – he just doesn’t like you.

And until you are able to find a way to work with them or around them, you’re left with the daydreams about defenestration…
