Steam fans invited to indulge their passion at Tyesley Loco Works

STEAM fans get the chance to indulge themselves this weekend when the Tyseley Locomotive Works once again stages another of its open days.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, visitors will be able to sample all of the usual train rides on the museum’s demonstration line, together with turntable demonstrations, and locomotive cavalcades.

Visitors will also be able to meet and talk with members of the team from the Locomotive Works and its fellow organisation, Vintage Trains, while they will also be able to view current restoration work, which is being undertaken on a wide variety of projects inside the works’ new workshop facility.

The event, between 10am-5pm, will also give people the opportunity to catch up with the latest progress on the works’ comprehensive overhaul of its flagship locomotive, 7029 ‘Clun Castle’. The eventual aim of the restoration is to see the loco returned to the main line.
