Wakemans set for £6m health centre handover

BIRMINGHAM-based property and construction consultancy Wakemans is set to handover a new £6m community health centre completed after a previous contractor went into liquidation.

The health centre, in Salford, was developed for Level Healthcare.

The development was brought to a successful conclusion after the appointment of construction management company, MAC Construction Solutions six months ago.

The firm was engaged after the main contractor, Barnes Construction UK went into liquidation earlier this year.

Wakemans worked closely with MAC Construction Solutions, acting as project manager, quantity surveyor, employers’ agent and representative as well as CDM co-ordinator and BREEAM assessor.

The 3,300m² two-storey health centre, designed by Ainsley Gommon Architects, willbring together three local GP Practices, an optician and pharmacy, and will also incorporate outreach clinics from local hospitals and consulting rooms.

John Woodhall, managing director, Wakemans, said: “We are delighted to have completed this important community project despite the setbacks and are grateful for the tremendous support we and the team have received from our client.”
