Record first half for Jaguar Land Rover

VEHICLE manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover has announced record UK sales for the first half, smashing the previous best for both Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

Results released today show Jaguar sold 16,603 vehicles in the first six months of the year, up 68% on the same period in 2015, while Land Rover retailed 45,711 vehicles, a rise of 10%.

The combined 62,314 total is up 21% on the same period last year. The figures equate to one Jaguar Land Rover vehicle leaving a UK showroom every four minutes during the six-month period.

The popularity of the Jaguar XE and F-Pace helped the brand enjoy its best June sales for more than a decade, with 2,928 vehicles sold – up 34% on June 2015.

The XE notched up sales of 1,023 during the month, while the F-Pace continued its strong showing since launch in the spring, selling 782 vehicles. The new version of the mid-range XF also found a welcoming market, with sales of 800.

Land Rover sold 5,805 vehicles in the UK in June, with the Range Rover Sport continuing to set the benchmark. Sales of the luxurious SUV accounted for 975 of the total, up 62% year-on-year. The Range Rover Evoque, which celebrates its fifth year of production this week, continued to perform well with 1,756 vehicles sold, while the Discovery Sport (1,597 – up 31%) and Discovery (927) also saw strong showings.

Commenting on the performance, Jeremy Hicks, UK managing director, Jaguar Land Rover, said: “This is a fantastic result and sends out a signal of intent in the current uncertain climate: Jaguar Land Rover is very much open for business.

“It has been a fantastic performance so far in 2016, with both brands contributing to our success.”
