Healthy city expansion for nursing union

THE Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is moving its regional team into offices in Birmingham as the organisation celebrates its centenary year.

National fit out specialist Overbury has just completed work on the 6,300 sq ft offices at Lyndon House on Hagley Road in Edgbaston, where the nursing union’s West Midlands regional operation is based.

Richard Workman, estates projects manager at the RCN, said: “We have relocated the existing Birmingham office, taking a new lease on one and a half floors of space within the existing building. This is to ensure we continue to support our members and ensure we meet the needs of nursing in the 21st century.

“We have worked alongside the Overbury team on similar projects in London and Sunderland and Edinburgh and were delighted with the results. They were the obvious choice when we were looking for a fit out partner to support cost effective fit out solutions for the services the RCN delivers to its members.”

Danny Parmar, account manager at Overbury in Birmingham, said: “It is always a pleasure to be asked by an existing client to work on new projects as it demonstrates that you must be doing a great job.

“The 13th and 14th floors had already been refurbished to a lettable standard by the landlord so our role was to modify the existing mechanical and electrical system, create meeting rooms and a staff social hub, and complete a high quality office fit out.

“As you might expect, the RCN was very keen to ensure that the new office space would have a positive impact on staff wellbeing. This was a wonderful project and we’re thrilled with the results.”
