Motorists warned of disruption as thousands head for V Festival

MOTORISTS using the M6 in Staffordshire have been warned about delays and possible disruption today with traffic heading to the V Festival at Weston Park.

Police have closed the northbound exit of the M6 at Junction 12 (Gailey) to try and maintain traffic flows along the A5 heading into Shropshire.

Routes to the event have been signposted, with police using the experience they have gradually learned over the 21 years the festival has been running to control access to the park.

Traffic heading from Liverpool, Manchester and the North West is being directed along the M6 south to Junction 12 and then on to the A5 towards the park.

Motorists travelling from North Wales, Wirral and Cheshire have been told to use the A49, A41 south then follow directional signs to V Festival.

Traffic heading north on the M6 is being channelled off the motorway at Junction 10a and then told to head along the M54 to Junction 3 (Albrighton).

Those travelling from the North East have been told to use the M1 to Junction 23a, then the A42, M42, M6 Toll, exiting at Junction T8 (Churchbridge), then the A460 Wolverhampton Road and on to the M54 to exist at Junction 3.

The event this year is headlined by Justin Bieber and Rihanna, with other notable appearances including the Kaiser Chiefs.
