Traffic Alert: Long delays on motorway following accident

A SERIOUS accident is causing major delays to the M5 in Worcestershire.

Two lanes on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 4a (exit for the M42) and 6 (Worcester North) are closed due to a collision in the roadworks area.

Ambulances have taken the injured away from the scene but recovery work is hampered because of the accident being in the roadworks area.

Traffic delays of 90 minutes are being forecast and the situation is not expected to clear until around 8pm.

Drivers have been advised to try and avoid the area if possible but should definitely allow more time for their journey.
