Appointments: Birmingham Hippodrome; Wates; Lodders

BIRMINGHAM HIPPODROME has appointed three trustees to its volunteer board.
Vidar Hjardeng, Imandeep Kaur and Harjinder Millington will advise the charity on attracting larger audiences, widening access to its community programmes, and growing engagement across the region.
Birmingham Hippodrome chief executive Fiona Allan said: “Vidar has chaired the Hippodrome’s Access Forum for several years, bringing his expertise in diversity and disability issues to champion the development of Hippodrome relaxed performances.
“Immy brings us new networks via the ground-breaking Impact Hub and TEDx Brum that will help the Hippodrome expand our reach and relevance. And Harj’s legal expertise, mixed with digital and retail skills, will be extremely useful as we focus on growing a broader audience base.”
Since 1979, the charity has run the UK’s 1,850-seat theatre in Hurst Street, which typically attracts more than 500,000 paying audience members each year.

WATES has appointed John Carlin as business unit director for the Midlands.
The senior appointment comes as the business looks to strengthen its presence across the region, targeting new business in the commercial, private residential and higher education markets as well as growing its public-sector portfolio.
Mr Carlin has joined Wates after 24 years with Bowmer and Kirkland, 11 of which was spent as divisional director.

LAW firm Lodders has added five members to its Stratford upon Avon team.
The firm’s real estate team has appointed Mursila Sohail as associate, and Sophia Khan joins as solicitor in Lodders’ residential property team from Coventry practice Maya & Co.
Michael Brook, who joined the firm as a trainee in 2014, has qualified into Lodders’ private client team, while Aquib Yusaf has joined that team as part of the firm’s trainee programme.
Warwick University graduate Lydia Elvin has joined as a  paralegal in Lodders’ company commercial team.
 
Lodders’ senior partner Martin Green said: “These latest appointments are a clear sign of just how busy our teams are, with instructions continuing to climb and the firm sustaining overall growth.”
