Birmingham shopping centre lands trio of new lettings

Birmingham’s Bullring shopping centre is set for a hat-trick of new retailers, operators have announced.

The region’s most visited retail destination, the centre has already welcomed one of the new names with the others set to follow in the spring.

Californian beauty brand, Smashbox Cosmetics, has opened its standalone store in a 588 sq ft unit housing the company’s full product range, which is supplemented by make-up masterclasses and events.

Fashion brand, New Look, is launching a standalone New Look Men store in a unit on the Upper West Mall. The 3,614 sq ft store, which opens next month, will feature the brand’s full menswear collection.

Completing the line-up is tea specialist, T2 Tea. The brand, which offers over 200 teas and blends, is taking a 754 sq ft shop unit.

Michaela Moore, general manager at Bullring, said: “We’re delighted to be starting the year with these three high profile brands. It’s a real coup for us to secure the region’s first Smashbox Cosmetics and T2 Tea stores and strengthens our retail offer on the Upper West Mall.

“The launch of a standalone New Look Men store demonstrates the demand we’re experiencing for menswear product and will see the brand sit alongside other menswear shops at the centre including Zara Men, Pretty Green and Luke 1977.”

Centre owner, Hammerson, said in its annual results on Monday that the centre was one of the best performers in its UK retail portfolio with rental income up more than 5% last year. The centre was said to be the beneficiary of new lettings and rent review uplifts.
