Entrepreneurs launch temperature monitor
A Northallerton-based technology start-up has launched a temperature and humidity monitor, which is now being used by retail outlets including Proper Tasty.
A team of industry specialists behind the business, AmbaSense, has launched its Tiaki sensor following 18 months of research and development. Tiaki provides recordings of temperature and humidity readings in fridges and freezers through a Wi Fi enabled monitor which sits discretely in fridges and freezers.
The AmbaSense solution covers a wide range of market sectors, including food & catering, healthcare & pharmaceutical, horticultural and transportation. It automatically measures temperature and humidity, submitting these readings to the online AmbaSense Dashboard.
AmbaSense was created in 2017 by a team of three co-founders, Martin Platt, Marcel Houtveen and Daniel Hopwood who boast 40 years’ experience in the environmental health and IT industries.
The brand was formed to provide various industries with connected solutions that capitalise on the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Co-founder Platt said: “We developed Tiaki as we realised there was a need in the market for a simple yet effective solution to temperature and humidity monitoring, one that didn’t require large scale infrastructure to be implemented alongside it.”
AmbaSense has recently been trialling Tiaki with Proper Tasty, a North Yorkshire sandwich retailer and wholesaler. Proper Tasty have been using the Tiaki system in its walk-in fridges and freezers.
Owner of Proper Tasty, Byron Evans, added: “We now have 24/7 real time temperature control. If there’s a problem, we are alerted and can take care of the issue in a quick and easy way. It has proven it worth by saving us thousands of pounds in wasted stock by immediately alerting us to any anomaly in our chillers and freezers.
“It’s taken away a task that whilst important, used up valuable time and we can now focus efforts elsewhere in growing our business and delivering the food that we are renowned for.”
