Weekender: Art installation unveiled at Wellington Place
Developer and Asset Manager MEPC is showcasing local artistic talent with the unveiling of the final installation of a Leeds Arts University series at its city centre location, 5 Wellington Place.
The brand-new installation, a triptych of prints has been created by BA (Hons) Illustration graduate Charlotte Curnick, offers a unique perspective on iconic Leeds industrial buildings.
The pieces will be showcased in the foyer of 5 Wellington Place for the next three months, with the public welcome to come and view during business hours, Monday to Friday.
The art programme at Wellington Place has run for the past year and has showcased the winners of a competition with Leeds Arts University that encouraged its students to explore their creativity whilst taking inspiration from the city and surrounding area.
The winners were chosen from an impressive array of entries by a judging panel of representatives from occupying businesses at 5 Wellington Place. This included Slav Sedlan of Willis Towers Watson, Harmajinder Hayre of Ward Hadaway and MEPC’s CEO, James Dipple.
Curnick said: “I was so pleased when it was announced that my work would be hung in the space. It’s great that people can now appreciate art as part of their everyday working lives. Moving to the city for university was one of the best decisions I ever made, and I’m glad that the brief allowed us to express all things great about Leeds.”
James Dipple, CEO of MEPC, said: “We’re so proud to be able to support the Leeds community and showcase the wide variety of talent that the city has to offer. The entire series of installations has been extremely well received by the Wellington Place community and those visiting to enjoy the art and has hopefully shone a new light on the beauty of Leeds.”

We’re so proud of all that our students have achieved, and that their talent has been showcased in such a unique way.
