Entry deadline for this year’s YABA Awards today

Yorkshire Asian business awards 2017 at the Cedar court hotel Bradford

The final nominations for this year’s Yorkshire Asian Business Association (YABA) Awards should be submitted by 5pm today, as the prestigious ceremony is set to make its return.

This year’s event, which recognises the contribution that Asian businesses make to both the regional and UK economy, will take place on 27 September at Bradford Cedar Court.

The Asian business community makes a significant contribution to the UK’s prosperity, with over 11% of new business UK start-ups being created by Asian entrepreneurs. The YABA award entries are still open so a great opportunity to nominate your business or a business that you think deserves to win.

Juliette Healey, regional agent for the Bank of England and a YABA Awards Judge, said: “Given how time challenged people are we have tried to make the awards application process as simple as possible.”

“Last year we received a large volume of strong nominations the judges were faced with some difficult decisions’, added Noor Ali of Morrisons, who joins Healey on the YABA Awards panel.

Other members of the judging panel include: Sanjiv Buttoo, managing editor at BBC Radio Leeds, Kayley Worsley, Yorkshire editor at TheBusinessDesk.com and Mark Casci, business editor, Yorkshire Post.

The YABA award categories are:

  • Emerging Entrepreneur
  • Food, Drink Business of the Year
  • International Business of the Year
  • Retail Business of the Year
  • SME Business of the Year
  • Professional of the Year

Amarjit Singh, chairman of YABA, said: “With the Annual Awards Dinner now in its fifth year the event has grown into one of the most prestigious celebrations in the Yorkshire Business calendar.
