West Yorkshire travel firm calls in liquidators

A West Yorkshire travel company has been forced to appoint liquidators after failing to provide holidays for people who have paid a deposit for.

Based in Holmfirth, Airdreams Ltd owes approximately £76,000 for payments made for holidays which as a result of the liquidation, will not be going ahead.

Elizabeth Robb, the director of Airdreams, traded successfully as a sole trader throughout 2017. Due to the increase in demand for her services, Robb incorporated the company in July 2018.

As Airdreams continued to see an increase in the number of customers wanting bookings, Robb struggled to manage, alongside problems with existing bookings.

She said that the main issues were a “lack of organisation within the business and its customers’ bookings and a high increase in customers in a short timeframe.

On 27 September, Robb contacted insolvency firm Poppleton & Appleby seeking financial advice, and on 31 October the shareholders appointed Charles Brook and Michelle Chatterton of Poppleton & Appleby as joint liquidators.

Chatterton of Poppleton & Appleby said: “The Company’s failure when it came seems to have been very sudden and it’s full cause may take a while to become clear. For many of the customers who paid for part of their holiday by card, there should be some recompense through their card providers guarantee scheme.

“With assistance from the Director we are doing our utmost to support those affected, although we regret that we cannot liaise with hotels, airlines or third party providers on behalf of customers as we do not currently have access to all of the information that would make this possible.”
