Start-ups boost regional economy as SMEs hit £41m lending

Yorkshire and The Humber has become one of the UK’s most entrepreneurial regions outside of London and the South East, according to new figures published. Data from The Start Up Loans Company shows that the Government-backed scheme has lent over £41m to small businesses in the region since it launched six years ago, compared with £38m for the West Midlands and £55m in the North West. The firm said that the figures suggest that entrepreneurship is thriving in the Yorkshire and Humber region, with over 5,000 loans, averaging ...
