Danoptra inspired by gaming technology

GAMING business Danoptra has agreed to buy all the business and assets of Inspired Gaming Group’s pubs division which includes 30,000 gaming machines.

The move will see Inspired supply its pub machine games technology to Danoptra, based at Horsforth in Leeds, which owns the Bell-Fruit and Gamestec slot machine businesses.

The deal includes 8,000 digital gaming machines which have more varied content and can be programmed remotely.

Danoptra plans a roll-out of further digital machines following the deal.

Derek Lloyd, chief executive of Danoptra, commented: “I am delighted with the acquisition, the purchased assets will be immediately earnings enhancing and will be a key element of the Group’s future plans.

”We look forward to working with both new and existing customers and welcoming further employees to the group.”

The sale has been agreed with RLMS Acquisitions, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Danoptra and part of the Gamestec division.

As part of the deal, Inspired will supply its ‘server based gaming’ platform to Danoptra on an exclusive basis in the pubs sector.

Inspired said said the deal had been structured for a “nominal consideration on a cash free/debt free basis and the assumption of certain liabilities”.

The company said the three-year agreement, which would allow it to save costs, made Inspired the supplier of its technology to the largest pubs machine estate in the UK.

Inspired said the operating loss in its pub sector in the 28 weeks ended April 12 was £11.5m with a total loss before tax of £59.1m.

Danoptra was sold to a group of city institutions led by Credit Suisse Group earlier this year.

The deal saw the new owners gaining a majority stake in the loss-making firm

Danoptra made almost £20m of losses last year and supplies and operates around 40,000 gaming machines in pubs, bars, leisure venues, betting offices, clubs, bingo halls and casinos across the UK including the market leading ‘Deal or No Deal’ quiz game.
