Fast Lad Performance flies with funding

AN INTERNATIONAL supplier of radio control helicopters iss planning further growth overseas after securing fresh finance.

HSBC Commercial Banking is providing the funding to Barnsley-based Fast Lad Performance.

Founded in 2006 by radio control helicopter enthusiasts Jamie Renwick and Chris Walton, Fast Lad imports stock from around the world which it then exports to clients globally.

The latest funding will enable Fast Lad to purchase a new range of helicopters from an Italian supplier.

Jamie Renwick, director of Fast Lad Performance, said: “As an internationally expanding company,  we  always try to always identify the most sought after stock lines to try and secure future sales growth.
“Our importing and exporting activities with China, Europe and the US means we need a bank that has the international credentials to support us.

“We feel HSBC’s  international  expertise makes it the perfect fit and we’re looking forward to working with them as we continue to grow our business.”

Mark Tompkinson, HSBC’s deputy  area  commercial director for South Yorkshire, said: “We are thrilled to be able to help a business that is so well established in its field to further increase its customer base in Europe and the US.

“As Fast Lad Performance primarily trades online, it has been able to take advantage of the rapid growth in consumers using online shopping facilities and it’s by capitalising on these opportunities that Fast Lad has grown to having the fifth biggest share of the US market. We are excited to be  supporting the future plans for such a strong British business.”

The deal was facilitated by international commercial manager Richard Baggaley.
