Sparks fly at Arkoni

A YORKSHIRE metalworking firm has defied the odds by reporting a 30% increase in turnover in the past year to £4m and revealing plans to create 10 new jobs this year.

Brighouse-based Arkoni, which manufactures and installs metal and fire resistant glazing for commercial construction projects, has exceeded expectations with its latest figures according to managing director Mark Prentice.

He said: “We had targeted a turnover of £3.6m for the last financial year but we’ve come in substantially above that which is positive news in terms of our recruitment plans and future business ambitions.

“We’ve seen a growth in demand right across the UK over the past 12 months which has helped to cement our position as a major player in this market.”

Arkoni specialises in the manufacture and installation of bespoke staircases, balustrades, canopies, entrance areas and fire resistant glazing on behalf of many of the UK’s major construction firms and architectural practices.

Over the past two decades the business has added the finishing touches to iconic venues including the 02 arena, Manchester’s Trafford Centre and the Tate Gallery in London.
