Property appointments: Mills & Reeve; Langleys; ELR

MILLS & Reeve has made a series of appointments to strengthen its real estate offering in Leeds.

Partner Simon Sherwood will lead the team of property law experts, which will also include Alison Howarth and Celia Pavitt.

Mr Sherwood, former head of real estate at DAC Beachcroft in Leeds, brings a wealth of experience to a range of areas, including the commercial and residential property sectors, asset management, real estate investment and the private wealth sector. Mr Sherwood also works extensively in the primary healthcare sector and acts for some of the country’s leading developers and investors.

Alison Howarth also joins the team from DAC Beachcroft in Leeds. An experienced real estate lawyer, she has broad experience advising commercial and public sector clients on a range of transactional, development and asset management matters.

She has represented multi-national shopping centre landlord clients including the full spectrum of asset management work.

Celia Pavitt joins the Mills & Reeve team after nearly six years at Addleshaw Goddard. She has particular experience in asset management work, advising institutional investment funds and asset managers. Ms Pavitt has acted for a variety of clients across retail and leisure, property investment and public sectors on a range of transactional mattes.

LangleysTHE specialist property litigation team at Langleys Solicitors has continued its expansion following the appointment of solicitor Amir Mughal.

Established by partner Matthew Pugh 12 months ago, the York-based team is one of the fasted growing in Yorkshire.

The team is building a reputation for dealing with high value and complex litigation and has attracted work from big name clients such as Del Monte, First Group, Bauer Media Group, Yorkshire Linen and Marsh & Parsons as well as a wide range of local businesses and individuals.

Mr Mughal trained at Leeds firm Walker Morris before honing his skills at Lovells. He joins Langleys from Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley and has particular experience working with retailers and has acted for high street brands Thorntons and River Island as well as Sheffield- based developer Henry Boot.

James Ross ELRINDEPENDENT estate agency Eadon, Lockwood and Riddle (ELR) has appointed its head of valuations James Ross to company director.

Mr Ross has worked with ELR since 2004 when he joined the independent business in the Sheffield Banner Cross office.

ELR’s managing director Chris Thomson said: “James’ appointment is testament to his phenomenal work in growing the ELR brand. Our sales have been up by 20% this year and with James’ expert knowledge and communication skills I’m confident that they will grow further.”
