Appointments: John Good Group; Andrews Gwynne; Chamber International; Castle Square CF

THE John Good Group, one of the UK’s largest independent shipping, logistics, warehousing and corporate travel companies, has made a number of senior management appointments as it gears up for its next stage of growth.

Changes within the senior management team include Seamus Jennings taking up the role of joint managing director at John Good Shipping. Jennings currently holds the position of sales director at John Good Shipping, as well as being a director of the main board of the John Good Group, and has been with the company for 25 years.

Alan Steadman has been appointed as director of John Good Shipping. He has been with the company for 18 years and has been a driving force in the development of its freight forwarding activities in Manchester, as well as developing the company’s Turkish trade.

On the warehousing side of the business, Paul Fordon has been appointed as director of Felixstowe Warehousing in addition to his current role as managing director of Trans European Port Services (TEPS), Hull. Also, group marketing manager, Adam Ward, started his new role in April and is responsible for developing the marketing strategy for all of the group’s businesses from the head office, based in Hull.

A YORKSHIRE discretionary portfolio management business has begun the first step of an expansion programme with the appointment of a strategic investment specialist.

John Thornber, previously head of research at Border Asset Management and Investment Strategist at Sanlam, has joined the team at Andrews Gwynne.

The Leeds-based firm, which was formed in the late 1970s, is a private wealth manager, providing a discretionary investment management service, combined with independent financial advice.

Thornber said: “I’m delighted to be joining a business that is highly regarded and, over the years, has built a solid reputation for providing intelligent, bespoke investment solutions to its clients, regardless of their wealth.

“Andrews Gwynne has the freedom and independence to provide ‘whole of market’ solutions, combined with more than three decades of experience across assets in a way that few smaller houses have.”

THREE key appointments have been made by overseas trade specialist Chamber International to keep pace with growing business demand for export support.

The appointments are international trade services manager, Michealla Platts and international trade administrators, Hayley Nutt and Rachel Ellis.

Michealla Platts, who has 20 years exporting experience in the automotive and textile testing equipment sectors in West Yorkshire, will take responsibility for Chamber International’s fast-growing export ‘order-to-final-delivery’ facility which is relied on daily by new-to-export companies and seasoned overseas traders. 
       
Hayley Nutt, a qualified business administrator, joins from a neighbouring  chamber of commerce where she gained experience in international trade procedures while Rachel Ellis worked for one of the largest UK-owned logistics provider, Wincanton, at its Bradford distribution centre as part of a team responsible for global supply chain services for ambient foods for retail giant Marks & Spencer.

CASTLE Square Corporate Finance, has announced the appointment of experienced dealmaker, Steve Bell, to its Sheffield-based team.

The appointment follows a sustained period of deal making success for Castle Square in which it completed deals including the management buy-in of Hannaman Engineering, the MBO of Collcap Packaging and a development capital fund raising for Fox Wire.

Having previously been head of corporate finance at an independent accountancy practice in South Yorkshire, Steve brings with him over 15 years of corporate finance experience which includes a spell at YFM Private Equity where he was investment manager on the South Yorkshire Investment Fund, providing equity investment to SME businesses.

Steve is actively involved with University of Sheffield Enterprise providing lectures on a range of topics covering business planning, funding and financial reporting in addition to acting as a judge on the prestigious annual business planning competition.
