Two IT providers acquired by technology group

TWO Yorkshire IT providers have been snapped up by Pinnacle Technology Group.

Ancar-B Technologies and Weston Communications have been acquired in a deal worth £5m.

Leeds-based Ancar-B is a £2.2m turnover company providing IT services to SMEs.

Weston, which is also Leeds-based, has been acquired for £1.5m.

It turned over £2.8m for the year to 31 March 2015.

Gavin Lyons, executive chairman of London-headquartered Pinnacle, was formerly chief executive of Accumuli, which acquired another Yorkshire business, Random Storm, from entrepreneurs Robin Hill and Andrew Mason.

He commented:”We believe that strategically there is a market opportunity for Pinnacle to become the leading provider of ‘IT as a service’ to the UK SME market, despite a number of operating challenges to address, by embarking on a buy and build strategy and focusing on higher margin services.

“The acquisitions of Ancar-B and Weston are the first steps in consolidating a highly fragmented market and I look forward to ensuring the organisation is focused on creating both customer and shareholder value”.

Jonathan Simms and Rachael Stockley of law firm Clarion in Leeds acted for Weston.
