Appointments: Director hire for law firm; Trio of appointments for engineering firm; and more

CHRIS THORNES, head of commercial law at rail freight operator DB Cargo UK is joining Yorkshire-based shipping, transport and international trade firm Myton Law.

The move is supported by DB Cargo UK and sister company Schenker, both part of the Deutsche Bahn Group.

During a ten-year tenure at DB Cargo UK, formerly English Welsh and Scottish Railway (EWSR), Mr Thornes has overseen property law requirements for the company’s property portfolio.  He also managed commercial law requirements, including haulage and international procurement contracts, and acted as general legal counsel for Schenker in the UK.   

He now takes up a senior position as director at Myton.  Established in 2010, Myton Law is Yorkshire’s only specialist shipping, transport, insurance and international trade law firm and serves regional, national and international clients from its offices on Hull’s Humber river front.

Mr Thornes’ arrival will increase the volume of the firm’s work in the rail sector as well as bring new expertise in commercial property and add strength to Myton’s company and commercial capabilities.

He will continue to provide support to the DB Cargo UK legal team in Doncaster and Schenker on both property and commercial legal work.

David Dionas, Yvonne Dale and Radu Trancau from Adept. LEEDS-based Adept Civil and Structural Consulting Engineers has appointed two structural engineers and an administrator.

Structural engineer and building information modelling (BIM) coordinator David Dionas and structural engineer Radu Trancau are both originally from Romania. The pair bring 12 years of combined experience to their new roles.

Both will be working for all of Adept’s clients including projects for historical buildings, and those operating in the commercial, education, healthcare, housing, residential care, industrial and retail sectors.

Administrator Yvonne Dale has worked for over 30 years in range of customer service, supervisor and coordinator roles. She will be supporting the team of 30 at Adept.

Moda Living Lee SavageMODA LIVING, the developer and operator behind one of the UK’s largest regional private rented sector (PRS) portfolios, has appointed Lee Savage as UK development director.

Mr Savage joins as the company looks to aggressively expand its assets and development pipeline across the UK.

Prior to joining Moda Living, he was group development director at Scarborough Group International. In this post he was responsible for projects such as Middlewood Locks in Salford and leading the group’s development projects in the North of England.  He also held the role of development director within the regeneration company Urban Splash.

Tony Brooks, director at Moda Living, said: “The Moda team has a very fixed vision and that is to bring to market a best-in-class UK wide rental platform that offers a lifestyle choice not currently available outside of London.
