Lincs furniture supplier to Royalty sold out of administration

A high-end online retailer of children’s furniture, based in Lincolnshire, has been bought out of administration.
Gigi Brooks, based in Louth, called administrators from Duff & Phelps in on 19 December, but has now been sold to Maggie & Rose (Merchandising) Ltd. The owners of Gigi Brooks blamed the impact of the Brexit vote for the company entering administration.
The firm has been sold for £39,501, with a further £7,228 due by 19 June 2017. Gigi Brooks’ two full-time and two part-time staff have been transferred to Maggie & Rose via TUPE.
In the year to 30 June 2016, Gigi Brooks made a loss of £224,442 and turned over £430,527.
Gigi Brooks was set up in 2014 and is a luxury nursery and children’s lifestyle brand encompassing furniture, interiors, gifts, a bespoke design service for clients all over the world, with typical clientele including royalty, celebrities and ultra-high net worth individuals.
It’s directors are named as Meng Ooi Kwan and Alison Harris.
The firm has created pieces for clients all over the world from one off projects such as a bespoke crib and bedding for a Sheikh in the Middle East and an individually conceptualised cashmere blanket for UK royalty to a room of handmade children’s furniture with individually illustrated Secret Garden style designs for a European Princess in Paris and a unique woodland nursery with a personalised Forest Friends wall mural for royalty in Germany.
According to reports, Gigi Brooks’s owners wanted to open physical stores in key international cities, but at the time it entered administration it was operating from its Louth base, with a London office for consultations.
