On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Aleena Ahmad has joined the board of trustees at Focus

Leicester-based charity Focus has appointed Aleena Ahmad, managing director of Affinity HRM, to its board of trustees.

Ahmad will become a director of the charity, which works with some of the city’s most vulnerable young people to develop their self-confidence, self-esteem and aspirations.

Focus has supported almost 20,000 young people since it was established in 1988.

As a chartered HR professional Ahmad brings 15 years of progressive experience to the role having previously worked with businesses across a range of industries.

She said: “I am thrilled to be taking on this role at FOCUS and I look forward to working with the fantastic team to champion and improve the experience of young people and opportunities available to them. I’m passionate about helping our future generation, so they have access and receive the necessary skills and confidence to achieve their aspirations and FOCUS do a fantastic job of changing lives through running various projects to support young people. I’m looking forward to sharing my experience to support the team and give something back to hopefully make a real difference.”

Elsewhere, Visit Lincoln has announced another key appointment – hot on the heels of the arrival of its new CEO Mike Timson.

Charlotte Goy and Marc Rhodes

Marc Rhodes has joined the organisation as business development and partnership manager. He will develop new commercial partnerships and grow Visit Lincoln’s partnership portfolio, continuing the work previously carried out by Clare Williams.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be part of Visit Lincoln and want to use my experience in marketing and business development to benefit the city where I grew up and have spent the majority of my career to date.

“In previous roles I have been a corporate partner of Visit Lincoln, so I’m fully aware of the great value the team brings to businesses, and I am excited to play a role in an exciting period of growth for the city.”

He’s a strong advocate for Visit Lincoln and has worked with us on previous campaigns that have promoted Lincoln as a great place to live, work and visit.”
