Plans for city centre easyHotel get green light

Forester House

Plans to turn a disused office block in Derby city centre into an easyHotel have been given the go-ahead.

The building, on the corner of Newland Street and Becket Street, will be transformed into a 111-bed budget hotel with its own restaurant and function rooms.

The move will create around 20 jobs at the former Job Centre building, known as Forester House.

In October, easyHotel, which owns, develops and operates “super budget” branded hotels, signed a franchise agreement with Ushba and said it expects to complete the development by 2021.

The hotel will be designed by JSA Architects.
