Civil engineering contractor set to call in administrators

A Chesterfield-based civil engineering contractor that employs over 100 people has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators, Construction Enquirer reports.
Field and Civil Engineering (FACE), of Barlborough, specialises in sewers, Section 278 works and car parks.
Established 22 years ago, the company describes itself as “the leading specialist in the construction of infrastructure for the civil engineering environment.”
Construction Enquirer says the company confirmed its intention to appoint administrators when contacted but “declined to comment further.”
FACE is still advertising jobs on its website, and as we went to press it was unclear what caused it to file the notice.
TheBusinessDesk.com understands Andrew Nichols at insolvency specialists Redman Nichols Butler is in the frame to look into the company’s affairs.
He has been contacted for comment.
According to FACE’s website, the business was founded in the “very humble surroundings” of a portacabin in a storage yard before moving into offices at Dronfield and then Barlborough.
Following its move to Barlborough, the company was the subject of an “amicable” MBO in 2012 before reportedly tripling in size over a five-year period.
It has completed work for major housebuilders including Taylor Wimpey, Miller and Bellway.
