128 jobs lost at furniture maker

All 128 jobs have been lost at a stricken Long Eaton upholstery manufacturer, it has emerged.

As TheBusinessDesk.com exclusively revealed on Monday (June 10), Acclaim Upholstery, which has its head office in Long Eaton, has called in joint administrators Martin Buttriss and Carol Best from Begbies Traynor.

The move came two weeks after Acclaim filed a notice of intention (NOI) to appoint administrators.

Inflationary pressure saw the bespoke furniture manufacturer struggle with rising costs and the impact of finance repayments, alongside a drop in sales, say the joint administrators.

Buttriss said: “This is a long-established business that has been beset by a number of issues, which have conspired to create an extremely difficult operating environment. A reduction in orders due to the cost-of-living crisis created problems with cashflow, which were exacerbated by inflationary pressure.”

The administrators have put the business up for sale and say there has been “healthy” interest.
