Derby tech firm remains confident despite profits drop

Datapath, the Derby-based specialist in computer graphics, video capture and digital technology has seen its profits fall for the year ending 31 March 2016.

The firm, which employs 84 people in Derby and offices in China, France, Japan and the US, saw turnover climb from £19.6m in 2015 to £20.6m this year, but profits falls to £5.4m in 2016 compared to £5.8m last year.

In its annual results, the company said that “tough global trading conditions” were giving the business “a significant headwind” in the first half of the year but a “noticeable change” happened in the second half of the year with a return to double digit growth.

Datapath said this “welcoming trend” is continuing into the new financial year.
