Future of Notts County to be revealed by noon

Alan Hardy

Notts County’s immediate future should become a lot clearer by noon today, according to the entrepreneur looking to buy the Club.

Alan Hardy, chairman of Paragon Interiors, tweeted this morning: “Definitive news by noon. Cross everything for me this morning please. I’m determined to sleep more than 3 hours tonight.”

Hardy’s lawyers have been locked in talks with representatives of Ray Trew, who is looking to offload the Club, but there appears to be stalement over an outstanding £1.5m loan owed to the trustees of the Haydn Green Estate.

Haydn Green saved Notts County from liquidation in 2003 after buying the lease on the ground and investing several million pounds. He died in 2007 leaving an estate which controls the lease of the Meadow Lane ground.

Hardy had hoped to take control of the Magpies this week before their crucial local derby with Mansfield Town. The Club are currently just one place and one point outside of the Football League trapdoor places in League Two after losing their last ten games.
